Control gorse victoria

Control gorse with precise drone spraying.

Drone Spraying for Gorse is faster, safer and more cost efficient than usual methods.

Gorse is an invasive weed species, like blackberry and artichoke thistle, that rapidly takes over land. Infestations can quickly become unmanageable, making vast areas of land unusable and increasing fire risk and impacting the productivity of your land.

Methods such as cut & paint, mulching and ground spray rigs often aren’t effective at treating invasive weeds long term, with the weeds often surviving and growing back.

We cover more area per day, with less herbicides and overspray than helicopter spraying. Take control of your land again and maximise your productivity with quick and easy drone gorse spraying. We service Melbourne and all of Victoria.

Why Choose Us?

Eliminate Gorse long-term with drone spraying

Field Master Systems drone spaying is the most precise and effective way to control gorse long-term. We precisely target the gorse and invasive weed at the root using cutting-edge drone technology.

Eliminate the gorse, once and for all

Precisely kill the whole plant by targeting the centre. Have peace of mind with our long-term gorse control knowing it won’t grow back.

Remove gorse quicker to access your land faster

Cover large areas of land quicker so less time is spent removing the gorse and faster access to land.

Target hectares of gorse infestation and difficult to reach terrain

Gorse infestations can become so large that it’s impossible to control them using traditional methods in a single go. The drone covers the whole plant, ensuring a total kill the first time.

Save on herbicide and reduce overspray

By only spraying where it’s needed, our customers save $1000’s on herbicides, all while preserving native vegetation.

We bring everything needed - from the drones, herbicides and expertise

We take care of the entire process for you and bring everything we need to make it easy and straightforward for you.

Our team are licensed remote pilots with deep agricultural expertise, dedicated to innovation and excellence.

Drone Spraying for Gorse is precise, cost efficient and fast

Drone spraying for invasive gorse is ideal if:

You’re looking for a long-term solution to control gorse in Melbourne or rural and regional Victoria.

Gorse has built up over large swathes of land, reducing the usability and productivity of your land.

Your gorse infestation is in difficult to access terrain, such as rocky, steep and uneven land.

You want a safer and cheaper solution for your land and animals without unnecessary use of herbicides.

Drone Spraying Vs Other Methods

Whilst there are alternative solutions to removing gorse and invasive weed, drone spraying for gorse is the most precise, fastest and safest option to treat large scale gorse infestations long term.

Method
Effectiveness
Speed
Access
Safety
Cost
FMS Drone Spraying
Precise and fast drone spraying only delivers herbicide where it’s needed
Ultra precise application rates only kill weeds, not pastures.
Fastest method.
Reaches difficult terrain with pinpoint accuracy.
No direct chemical contact.
Most cost-effective long-term solution.
Helicopter Spraying
Spray herbicides with helicopter to target vast areas of land
Covers large areas if done fully.
Fast, rapid treatment.
Less precise in hard-to-reach spots.
No direct chemical contact.
Expensive, best for big areas.
Ground Spray Rig
Ground spray rigs use a vehicle-mounted or handheld sprayer to apply herbicide directly to the gorse.
Misses unreachable sections.
Faster than manual but less precise than aerial methods.
Limited in difficult terrain.
Hand sprayer risks direct chemical exposure.
Cost-effective if accessible.
Hand Spraying
Physically spraying gorse by hand.
Effective for small areas, but unsuitable for large areas.
Very slow, manual process.
Only for easy-access areas.
High chemical exposure.
Labour-intensive and slow.
Mulching
Cutting down and chipping gorse to gain access to the land.
Mulching is a short term solution aimed to cut down gorse to get access to the land, not treat the root itself, so re-growth often occurs.
Mulching can chip gorse quickly, but also depends on the gorse density, machinery size and infestation size.
Machinery can struggle accessing steep, rocky or uneven ground.
Mulching only chips the gorse and doesn’t treat it with pesticide, so it’s safe in terms of chemical use.
Can be done cheaply if gorse is easy to reach, but slow in difficult terrain.

"Goulburn Murray Water have really valued working with the guys at Field Master Systems. This has helped us look at ways we can utilise drones to improve our efficiencies in our everyday spray operations. Regardless of differing weed types in varying terrains/situations they have been able to adapt the drone spraying to work efficiently and effectively."

FAQ

Discover answers to common queries about our drone services and solutions. Explore how our expertise can benefit your projects and operations.

Can you supply the herbicides necessary for gorse spraying?

Yes. We make things as easy as possible for our customers, and we can supply all of the required herbicides you’ll need to treat your gorse at competitive rates.

Can you spray any chemical or herbicide with the drone?

Any chemicals or herbicides used in the drone must be approved for aerial spraying. This information can be found on the label attached to the herbicide. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll tell you if your herbicide can be applied with the drone.

Is there much of a difference between drone and helicopter spraying for weed control?

Our customers who have used helicopter spraying in the past have told us that drone spraying leads to significant reductions in herbicide costs, as well as less overspray and damage to native vegetation. This is due to the fact that drones fly much closer to the ground, and have a narrower boom width capable of better targeting individual plants.

Do you also offer ground spraying services to control gorse?

Yes, we use a hybrid approach to control gorse that is suited to your specific needs. Often properties will require a combination of drone spraying and ground spraying to ensure that all areas are fully covered.

My gorse is mostly in amongst trees and other vegetation. Can drones still be used to spray it?

It depends. While drones are great for gorse in steep, rocky and soft terrain, there are some places that are difficult for drones to access. Anywhere with thick tree cover such as remnant bushland and along creek lines can be better candidates for hand spraying. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll arrange a site inspection to let you know if drones are the right solution for you.

When’s the best time of year to spray gorse in Victoria?

Gorse can be treated all year round in Victoria. Depending on soil moisture conditions, we avoid spraying it when it’s too hot or dry to maximise the efficacy of the herbicide.

Do you advise on the right herbicides to use when spraying gorse?

Yes, our team all have deep agricultural backgrounds and we work as your trusted advisors to deal with invasive weeds on your farm. We guide and advise on methods, herbicides and approach before commencing work.

I want to control the gorse long term. Does gorse grow back after drone spraying?

Drone spraying of gorse is a precise method which targets the gorse root, eliminating the majority of the gorse long-term. Some spot treatment may be needed to follow up but it is considerably less than traditional methods.

I need to control my gorse infestation. How does drone spraying compare to traditional methods, such as cut and paint, mulching and ground spray rigs?

Traditional methods for weed control can be laborious and are often only suited to small sections of gorse. They often don’t penetrate the centre of the bush meaning the gorse can grow back and develop chemical resistance. Drone spraying is more precise and targets the whole gorse bush, covers vast areas of land and difficult to reach terrain, and often requires less herbicides overall.
