Traditional methods to control blackberry can be laborious and are often only suited to small sections of blackberry. They often don’t penetrate the centre of the blackberry bush, meaning the blackberry can grow back and develop chemical resistance. Drone spraying for blackberry is more precise and targets the whole infestation, covers vast areas of land and difficult to reach terrain, and often requires less herbicides overall.
Drone spraying to control blackberry is a precise method which targets the blackberry plant, killing the majority of the blackberry long-term. If there’s an existing blackberry seedbank, some spot treatment may be needed to follow up but it is considerably less than traditional methods.
Yes, our team all have deep agricultural backgrounds and we work as your trusted advisors to deal with invasive weeds such as blackberry on your farm. We guide and advise on methods, herbicides and approach before commencing work.
Blackberry is best treated in its growth phase, normally from October to March depending on weather conditions. Ideally the spraying is done before the fruit ripens, which prevents the spread of seeds by birds and animals.
It depends. While drones are great for steep, rocky and soft terrain, there are some places that are difficult for drones to access when controlling blackberries. Anywhere with thick tree cover such as remnant bushland and along creek lines can be better candidates for hand spraying. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll arrange a site inspection to let you know if drones are the right solution for you.
Yes, we use a hybrid approach to control blackberry that is suited to your specific needs. Often properties will require a combination of drone spraying and ground spraying to ensure that all areas are fully covered.
Our customers who have used helicopter spraying in the past have told us that drone spraying leads to significant reductions in herbicide costs, as well as less overspray and damage to native vegetation. This is due to the fact that drones fly much closer to the ground, and have a narrower boom width capable of better targeting individual bushes.
Any chemicals or herbicides used in the drone must be approved for aerial spraying. This information can be found on the label attached to the herbicide. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll tell you if your herbicide can be applied with the drone.
Yes. We make things as easy as possible for our customers, and we can supply all of the required herbicides you’ll need to treat your blackberry at competitive rates.
